Watch Central Valley government meetings
Where to watch county boards, city councils, school boards, and the regional air district across the eight counties of the San Joaquin Valley, live and archived.
We track 23 bodies so far, out of an estimated 300 to 500 or more across the region. Eight counties, 62 incorporated cities, and several hundred school and special districts. This list is a long way from complete. It grows as each body is verified, and nothing is listed until its channel has been checked.
Counties
All eight county boards in the market are tracked.
| County | Watch | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Fresno | Legistar (live and archive back to 2015) and YouTube (archive from March 28, 2023) | Legistar and YouTube |
| Kern | Granicus archive, back to 2006, and the Kern County TV player | Granicus |
| San Joaquin | IQM2 portal and a YouTube live stream | IQM2 and YouTube |
| Stanislaus | Stanislaus County Live and YouTube | County stream and YouTube |
| Tulare | County of Tulare YouTube channel | YouTube |
| Merced | Board of Supervisors Meetings, which embeds a Vimeo live event. Also Comcast Ch. 96 and the county Facebook page. | Vimeo and cable |
| Kings | Kings County Board of Supervisors YouTube channel | YouTube |
| Madera | Madera County Boards and Commissions YouTube channel. Video is also attached per meeting in the eSCRIBE portal. | YouTube and eSCRIBE |
Kings County is the one to read carefully. Its own agenda states that people watching on YouTube "will not have the ability to provide public comment." Interactive remote participation is on Microsoft Teams instead, and the Teams link is printed on each meeting's agenda rather than living at a fixed address. If you intend to speak rather than watch, YouTube is the wrong door. Source: Kings County agenda.
Stanislaus County publishes rebroadcast times. In Modesto, meetings replay Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m., and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., on Comcast Ch. 7 in Modesto, Comcast Ch. 96 in Oakdale, and Charter Ch. 19 in Ceres, Turlock, and Riverbank. Source: broadcasting schedule.
Cities
| City | Watch | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Fresno | YouTube, CMAC, and Legistar. Also Comcast Ch. 96 and AT&T Ch. 99. | YouTube, CMAC, Legistar |
| Bakersfield | eSCRIBE and YouTube. Also Kern County Television, Spectrum Ch. 16 and AT&T U-verse Ch. 99. | eSCRIBE and YouTube |
| Stockton | Granicus archive and YouTube. Also Facebook Live, Comcast Ch. 97, AT&T U-verse Ch. 99. | Granicus and YouTube |
| Modesto | City of Modesto YouTube channel. Also Comcast Ch. 7. | YouTube |
| Visalia | Video is linked per meeting from Legistar. The meeting itself runs on Zoom. | Legistar and Zoom |
| Merced | Video is linked per meeting from Legistar. The city's agenda names a city YouTube channel plus Comcast Ch. 96 and AT&T U-verse Ch. 99, but does not link the channel, so the YouTube address is not established. | Legistar and cable |
| Clovis | CivicClerk portal. The agenda also names a city YouTube channel without linking it, so that address is not established. | CivicClerk |
| Turlock | Turlock City Hall YouTube channel | YouTube |
Bakersfield's council video runs through the same Kern County Television Granicus player as the county board, and the city publishes rebroadcast times: Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Source: Meeting Broadcasts and Videos.
School districts
| District | Watch | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Fresno Unified | Watch Live and Vimeo | Vimeo |
| Kern High School District | Board livestream and archive on YouTube | YouTube |
| Stockton Unified | Two channels. English and Spanish. Audio recordings are indexed at board meeting recordings. | YouTube |
| Modesto City Schools | District YouTube channel | YouTube |
| Clovis Unified | Recordings are posted to board agendas, meetings and archives. Whether meetings stream live is not established. | District site |
| Visalia Unified | District YouTube channel | YouTube |
Stockton Unified is the only body of the 23 that runs a separate Spanish-language video channel for its board meetings. In a market where Spanish is a first language for a large share of residents, that is one district out of 23 bodies, and it is worth knowing exists.
Regional agencies
| Body | Watch | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District | YouTube live, reachable from the district's webcasts page | YouTube |
The air district asks viewers to connect no earlier than five minutes before the meeting start time.
Two bodies publish a turnaround for posting the recording
Most bodies here say nothing about when a recording appears. Two state it:
- Clovis Unified: "made accessible to the public within 48 hours of the Board meeting." Source: the district's own board agenda PDF.
- Visalia Unified: "the recording will be made accessible to the public within 48 hours of the Board meeting on YouTube." Source: board meetings.
Both are school districts. No county board or city council in this market publishes a posting deadline for its video.
Not yet checked
The 54 remaining incorporated cities, all remaining school districts, every planning commission, the irrigation and water districts, the groundwater sustainability agencies, the councils of governments, the transit districts, and the seven federally recognized tribal governments. If you want a specific body added, that is the list we work from.
